This weekend saw the Avalon Spring Faery Fayre and Ball at the Town Hall in Glastonbury. This is a free faery event that has been running since 2009 with additional talks and workshops as well as an evening ball and was once again a bustling event with plenty of faery lovers through the door each day.

This event welcomed several special guests including Brian Froud from Devon a fantasy illustrator who is regarded as the pre-eminent faerie artist in the world and an authority on faeries and faerie law as well as his wife Wendy who is also a fantasy artist, conceptual designer and sculptor and who delivered a masterclass in making puppets on Saturday afternoon; Hannah Titania from the Isle of Islay was talking on her experience communing with faeries as well as selling copies of her books while Master Armourer Terry English from Hayle in Cornwall presented a talk on his life as a film prop maker since the late 1960s in a career which has seen him working on many films including Excalibur, Aliens, First Knight, Highlander and King Arthur, providing both historic and modern warfare outfits.
Alongside the talks there were an abundance of stalls including Linda Ravenscroft, Ed Org, Tamara Newman, Woodland Wild and Strangeling. Meanwhile refreshments were provided throughout the weekend by the Giggling Goblin Bar and Cafe.
The Saturday evening Faery Ball this year had music from the Cornish band 3 Daft Monkeys, Steampunk Faery Ziazan and Faery Belly dance with Cara B and the Shimmying Sidhe and as usual was extremely busy and vibrant.
The Faery Fayre is due to return to Glastonbury in the autumn.
