Butleigh Old Road will be closed from January 24 – February 7 from the Bere Lane Junction to 2 Butleigh Old Road.
The second road closure at Bere Lane will take place during the school holidays, from February 11 – 17. A small section of the road from Numbers 75 - 81 will be closed.
Access for residents will be maintained at all times and entry the Rural Life Museum will not be affected.
During this time Wessex Water will be relining the town's sewers after investigations revealed they are in great need of repair. This should ensure the system lasts for another 100 years.
Wessex Water engineer Joo Foo said: "We will try to ensure the work is completed as soon as possible. Using 'no dig' technology will significantly reduce the timescale of the work which will in turn minimise the impact on the public.ã
"I would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience that this essential work may cause."
