A new nationwide website Fix My Transport has just been launched which will enable Glastonbury people to report problems on public transport in the area.

The aim of the website, which is a new creation from the My Society folk (set-up by the charity UK Citizens Online Democracy), is to make reporting issues with public transport as simple as reporting potholes and broken street lights on their previous and highly successful site Fix My Street.  So whether the problem is a broken window at a bus stop, lack of up-to-date timetables or late buses this is the one stop place to go.

Often people don't know who to complain to in order to resolve issues with the public transport infrastructure, and this site enables users to log their problems in one place with the help of a simple user interface.  The reported problems are transparent for all to see, which makes them harder for transport operators to ignore, and while reporting an issue doesn't in itself mean that anything will be done to resolve issues it will at least allow people to see what reports are being made about transport services in their area.

According to the developers, the massive database contains all the bus stops and train stations in the UK, and it is potentially very useful in a society where the public transport system is perceived to be becoming worse with every passing year.

But it's not all about moaning and negativity either.  Equally importantly, users of the site are also able to leave positive statements about their services too – so if buses always run on time, or your railway station is immaculate you can let others know this too.

The website is still in its infancy, and as yet there appear to be no reported issues in our area, but if you know differently, then register on the site and let us and them know what's going on.
