Considering Glastonbury tickets have once again sold out in a record breaking time, it seems only fitting that we turn our attention to Moschino Cheap and Chic Spring/Summer ’13 collection that was showcased but a few weeks ago at Milan’s sensational fashion week. The collection, as well as largely drawing on the swinging Sixties, had hints of the free loving Seventies thrown in there for good measure.

For the 60’s there were mini skirts, boxy jackets, and masses of monochrome in abundance. It seems evident that the decade of swing were clearly a huge inspiration for much of this fun and lively collection. Thick stripes, and Jean Shrimpton-esque helmets, it was all there. It seems clear that our own fair capital of days gone by must have been influential in the design process of this collection.

The wonderful flashes of the Seventies within the eclectic show provided a welcome surprise for those of us who were perhaps expecting the entire show to be in black and white. Pops of colour were provided by the exciting floral designs, and there was even the occasional hippy broderie dress thrown in. It seems safe to say that this bright and vibrant show has seen deemed a complete success, particularly amongst those of us who never did throw away any of our old outfits.

The Italian based fashion house has a strong history of reinterpreting classic designs, being able to successfully combine the eccentric with the elegant, and showing a good sense of continuity throughout their lines. Moschino’s Cheap and Chic line for example, clearly shows examples of influence from the 1970s, yet somehow manages to still remain an autonomous and strong line in itself.

The Editeur have been spoilt for choice during the catwalk season, and the boutique have been thrilled to see that the Italian designer have taken on to some much loved British classics and turned them on their head in order to create this exciting new line. The independent shop is based in the historic walled city of Chester, and cannot wait for the new Moschino Cheap and Chic line to become a part of their perfectly edited collection. As well as stocking pieces from the Moschino Cheap and Chic range, the designer clothing store also has a number of other wonderful designer womenswear names gracing their rails. Just a few of their favourites include Hale Bob, Alice by Temperley, and Halston Heritage.
