The Loft Somerset Pizza & Organic Wines was opened two weeks ago by Robin K Maddex, Owner of The Crown pub in Glastonbury, who wanted to offer Glastonbury foodies a tasty and unique dining experience using local produce and fine wines.
The pizzeria is located directly above Glastonbury Backpackers at the Crown and is set in a lovingly finished room boasting traditional beams and wooden floors allowing customers can enjoy a candle-lit meal.
Owner Robin felt it was important to use locally sourced produce and recycled materials as much as possible when creating his pizza restaurant.
"We wanted to offer a fun, quality and tasty food experience that fitted in with the ethos and feel of Glastonbury," he said.
"A lot of love and care has gone into the creation of this restaurant – all our benches are made with recycled wood where people can sit side by side.
"Our pizzas are all hand made by our chefs Torrin & Ethan using who use local meats, cheeses, salads and vegetables from Somerset producers,"
Robin added: "Where possible our ingredients are supplied by Stephens Butchers next door in Market Place,"
"I really think The Loft is a wonderful dining experience and we are very happy to say that everyone who has experienced our unique restaurant has loved it."
Robin felt that creating a relaxing and friendly ambience was an important objective for his new restaurant.
"The unique ambience we have created is very important and is part of the overall experience, fitting perfectly with our lovely handmade Somerset pizzas and local organic fruit wines," said Robin.
"Guest are welcomed by the gorgeous Jesse and served a little taster of mead while you decide what to order."
As well as offering crisp hand-made pizzas, The Loft offers a variety of foods including venison and lamb burgers and gluten, dairy and wheat free pancakes.
A full wine list is also available at the new restaurant and offers Pennards Organic fruit Wines & Mead from Avalon vineyard as well as international wines served both by the glass and bottle.
Customers can for a short time take advantage of The Loft's opening deal offering patrons two pizzas for £11 on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday lunch times and on evenings Tuesday to Saturday from 5pm – 7pm.
The Loft Somerset Pizza & Organic Wines is located at 4 Market Place in Glastonbury and is open Tuesday to Friday from 5pm to 11.30pm and Saturday from 12noon to 11.30pm.
