On a particularly dreary December day, a small group of protestors has today gathered on the pavement outside St. John's Church in Glastonbury high street as part of the D15 Occupy Everywhere campaign.

Occupy Glastonbury
Over the past couple of months the international Occupy movement has made its mark across the world with demonstrations taking place in well over 900 different cities across the world, and today Glastonbury is joining in in the protests which were designed to challenge, occupy and resist the banking system which criminally gambled away our money.
The good natured protesters armed with (soggy) placards, drums, tents, brollies and most importantly a positive upbeat attitude are joining in with the national day of occupation which marks the 2 month milestones since a group of protestors set up camp next to St. Paul's Cathedral in London when they were denied entry to Paternoster Square (the home of the London Stock Exchange).
One of the campaigners, Gill Booth said "we are gathering here in a non-violent non-threatening way to make it known that we are feeling angry at an injust system in which our money is being squandered to benefit a few while ignoring the needs of the many and we believe our society needs to rethink the way that it conducts itself.".
Until this time the largest UK campaign outside of London has been at the Cathedral Green in Bristol, where the campaigners intend to stay until the spring and while today's occupation in Glastonbury is intended as a single day of action and not a rival to those it is hoped that people will at least support or at least discuss or think about the mess that the world has found itself in with no sign of an improvement any time soon.
