Police appealing for witnesses to assault in Glastonbury

Avon and Somerset are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a vicious assault that took place in Glastonbury in the early hours of Sunday 7th August 2011 which left the victim needing facial surgery in hospital as a result.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was on his way home in Glastonbury at around 2.50am, when he was approached by another man opposite the Tor Leisure Centre in Street Road. Following an argument the victim was knocked at the floor at which point a second man joined in and kicked, stamped and punched the victim on the head and body.
Someone nearby witnessed the latter part of the incident and shouted at the two suspects who ran off in the direction of Morrisons supermarket.
The suspects are described as:
- a white man in his late teens, of medium build and about 5ft 8" tall who was wearing a brown zip-up hooded top and dark jeans with white print on the back, and
- a man wearing a dark hooded top.
The police are requesting that anyone who thinks they may know the identity of either of the two assailants or who may have witnessed the attack to call them on 0845 4567000 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
