Firstly, in the early hours of Sunday morning a 47-year old man was seriously assaulted in Northload Street as he was returning home following an evening out in town. It appears that the victim had approached a man and woman with a small child who were arguing when a group of about 6 men approached him, one knocked him to the ground and he was kicked several times. He managed to get to his feet and run off and was pursued by several other members of the group.
The primary attacker is described as a very muscular white man in his late 20s around 6ft tall, with shaved blonde hear and wearing a black sleeveless singlet.
Meanwhile several items have been stolen from the Buddha Maitreya Soul Therapy Centre in Glastonbury High Street overnight between 6.30pm on Monday 20th February and 8am on Tuesday 21st February.
The front window was smashed and the suspects took a seven-inch long Vajara meditation tool (made of crystal with magnets wound in silver); a nine-inch long Etheric Weaver meditation tool (made of crystal with magnets wound in gold wire attached to a gold chain with a precious stone at the end); and two inch-long Etheric Weaver pendants (made of crystal with magnets wound in gold wire and attached to gold chains).
Police are appealing for members of the public, second hand retailers and antique shop owners to be vigilant and to contact them if offered any of the items taken.
Anyone with any information on this incident should contact police on the non-emergency number 101 or anonymously call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
