Collision investigators are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision earlier this morning in Glastonbury.

The incident happened at about 2am on the A39 at the Tin Bridge roundabout.

Police say that a motorcyclist was travelling in an easterly direction along the A39 towards the roundabout.

It appears the motorcyclist rode straight over the roundabout before appearing to lose control and sliding across the carriageway on the opposite side.

The 49-year-old male received treatment at the scene but died later.

Police closed the road to allow a full examination of the scene by members of the collision investigation unit. The road was re-opened at about 7.30am.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident. Anyone able to help is urged to contact the collision investigation unit on the force's new non emergency number 101.
