Over the past month or so there have been some changes to Benedict Street (off the bottom of the town) and this often quiet part of town is well worth a visit.

Starting from the bottom: the King Arthur public house is once again under recent new new management and already its Sunday lunches (with both meat and veggie options) are already garnering great reviews despite only being on offer for the past two weeks.  There are also quite a few musical events happening in the cosy Excalibar, so keep an eye on our What's On section where we'll be adding them when we get to hear of them.

Twilight Zone tattoo parlour, which has been established for over a decade is also doing brisk business and has accordingly moved into slightly bigger premises just down the road from its previous location, and Glyn and his team are now awaiting your business, so  whether you need an off the wall design, a custom one, a piercing or even a cover-up, pop in for a chat and to discuss your requirements.

Twilight Zone's move has paved the way for the very good quality Fruit and Veg Shop which has subsequently relocated from the Gauntlet and has an outstanding range of quality local produce, and besides fruit and vegetables also sells free range eggs, james and preserves and even cakes.

Meanwhile, just a matter of weeks after Dusty Attic Bears sadly closed, its premises have now been taken over by The Wild Hunt (taking its name from the fabled spectral hunt which is said to burst forth from the depths of Glastonbury's famous Tor at Samhain) which opened on 21st January and is a shop apparently dedicated to honouring the God in every Man.  There are plenty of gifts for sale, as well as shoes and clothes, with a team of in house seamstresses who can even create you a bespoke garment (like for example a ritual robe) at a very good price or oven make an adjustment to your favourite garment.

Finally Heaphy's cafe which isn't technically in Benedict Street but which sits on the top corner of it in the Market Place has for the past 2 weeks undergone a major and perhaps long overdue refit, and reopened again on Friday.  There's great coffee, a decent and varied menu and now a much more modern look and feel (with just a few finishing touches still required. With plenty of large glass windows and outside seating Heaphy's is in a great position to watch the world go by.
