Street Care Home celebrates Talk Like a Pirate Day

Residents at Southlawns Care Home in Street had a good yo-ho-ho last month as they joined in with international Talk Like a Pirate Day.

On September 19, the Somerset Care residents got in the pirate spirit donning eye-patches, bandanas and parrots, spouting familiar pirate phrases such as "ahoy matey!" and "shiver me timbers!"

Southlawns staff also set up Talk Like a Pirate Day activities holding a completely pirate themed day for their residents.

Activities included a pirate themed 'best dressed' competition and a hearty pirate feast at lunch time.

Catherine Brown, Manager of Southlawns said: "We all had a fantastic day - who knew that talking like a pirate could be so much fun!

"The residents have really enjoyed themselves; they loved dressing up and getting into character."

    I was hijacked by a gang of Somali pirates and they used far more colurful language as they decapitated several crew members of my yacht.
