Six men from Street are doing a 300 mile charity cycle to Lord's Cricket ground and back this week.
The six Street men preparing for their 300 mile cycle
The six cricket fanatics will be cycling from the Victoria Cricket Club in Street to Lord's Cricket ground over four days.
Starting out at 8 am on Thursday 13 September, they will cycle around 100 miles stopping off in Reading in the evening. On Friday the men will cycle the remaining 50 miles to Lord's and will ride back over Saturday and Sunday.
The six men involved are Wayne Bradshaw, Tom Punchard, Mark Hamilton, Jon Cox and brothers Jeremy and Phil Linter.
They have all had the experience of losing a loved one to cancer or heart failure and felt they wanted to give something back to the charities who work to cure these problems.
Wayne Bradshaw who organised the cycling event said: "We were all talking about wanting to do a bike ride and when we were thinking about charities we realised we all had lost someone we loved to heart problems or cancer.
"I lost both grandfathers; one to cancer and one to a heart attack. The other boys have lost people too so it's very important to us."
"None of us have ever cycled that far before, we cycled 75 miles in preparation the other day but that's the furthest any of us have ever gone.
"We have been training for this for ten months now so it's a bit strange now it's finally come around; we're all ready to go for it though."
Their chosen charities are the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK and they intend to give a small sum to Street Cricket Club. The men have already raised an estimated £2000 for these causes.
The team are inviting people to join them to give them an "extra boost" on the final stretch home at one of their break points (listed below).
The break points are all near train stations and are not hard to find so if you want to get involved and give them that extra boost tweet the guys here: @ridetheboundary
