LONDON -- What ingredients do you need to have a strong heart? That's the question that a group of UK and US filmmakers are asking with their latest short film entitled 'Strong Heart'. The film is about searching for love and surrendering to serendipity, as a lost and lonely woman finds not only herself, but also unexpected love.
The short film will be shot on location in the beautiful town of Glastonbury, England for two days. Capturing the town's stunning landscape and architecture, as well as the lively, colourful, new age shops of the high street, the film will also feature the famous Chalice Well and spectacular Glastonbury Abbey. the town is the backdrop for the film's astehtic look, enhancing the film's dreamy, fantasy-like storyline. Director Maxim Jago says, "I'm fascinated by the filmic approach of 'magical realism'. Somehow it's closer to the reality of our emotional and subjective experience of the world and each other. I can't think of a place in the world better suited to this story".
The film stars East 17 singer Terry Coldwell and American Actress Jodi Nelson as the unsuspecting love interests. Coldwell is a member of the popular English boy band comprising of Tony Mortimer, John Hendy, and Terry Coldwell. Formed in Walthamstow, London in 1991, the group achieved 18 Top 20 singles and four top 10 albums, selling over 18 million albums as one of the UK's most popular bands during the early to mid 1990s. Coldwell says, "I'm really excited about this project!!!"
The music for the film will be provided by singer/songwriter Teri Hopkins, a rising star managed by Coldwell, and the perfect sound to portray the characters' journey in the film. Suzanne Kendall, one of the film's producers says, "I'm very excited about this collaboration. We're bringing together some amazing talents in all departments - directing, crew and actors. With regard to the music, we have the opportunity to feature a rising star and a more recognisable figure in the world of pop. We also have an incredible crew on-board and some of the most beautiful locations we could ever ask for. We are very lucky and have every faith that we are going to make something quite wonderful".
The filmmakers are also launching a Kickstarter campaign with the aim of raising the necessary funds to complete the film. Kickstarter, a popular crowdfunding website launched in the UK in October 2012, raised an amazing £2 million of pledges in its' first month for UK creators. That works out to £48 in pledges each minute. Of the 400 projects that have launched, 30 have already been successfully funded and many more are on their way. Jago continues, "Kickstarter, and services like it, represent the beginnings of sustainable filmmaking - where the people decide what gets funded. By connecting with Terry and Teri's fan base and inviting these two great creatives to contribute to the development of this project, we're bringing together a wonderful collection of talents. We're really confident the fans will help is raise the funds needed in time".
Strong Heart will be submitted into the Monaco Internatonal Film Festival / Angel Film Awards, which will be opened by Oscar nominated Director David Lynch. The film will also be sent to other international and Oscar qualifying film festivals, as well as seeking distribution on digital and television networks, such as iTunes and the Sundance Channel.

The production still needs support - look at the content online, make a pledge to the Kickstarter campaign, share with your friends! Furthermore, the production team are still trying to attach some crew - they'd be really keen to hear from any local makeup artists and sound recordists who may be interested in getting involved. A dream shot they have in mind, is to get some aerial photography over Glastonbury using a hover-cam / go-pro. If there is anyone who might be able to help with this, please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you!
