Tor Sport and Leisure Centre changesfor the better.

Here we go again, Cllr.Cottle unhappy about the District Council taking over the Tor Sports and Leisure Centre as club landlord because he was not told about it. Since when has he been involved in such physical pastimes as sport, since when has he ever been involved in this sports centre which I am sure some of his electorate are? What input has he got to offer? His mate Mr.Cook has gone!!
As most people know I have been involved with the sports centre when it was in Morland's ownership way back in the 70's. It was the best in Somerset outside of the county ground at Taunton.
With the departure at the end of November of Mr Cook thank goodness, we now have a wonderful opportunity to give the place a much needed clean to at least the required minimum standards.
I am the co-ordinator of neighbourhood watch in my area, so on being informed by a cricket club member, I told MDC that the local residents living around the perimiter of the fields should also be invited to this meeting, which was agreed.I typed the basic details of the meeting, pinned to the press release agreed by both parties which the press never published, and I delivered 20 of these notes to locals who might be interested.
Minutes of this meeting of the 5th.Jan. were sent to all of the attendees' who signed the attendance sheet.
The meeting was conducted in a very mature manner it was not forceful. the force maybe there at the next meeting.
In answer to Cllr.Cottle's beef about the town council was not informed,(How pompous can you get)
Cllrs.Henderson, Sharp, and even the Mayor Bill Knight was in attendance. It was also good to see County Cllr.Terry Napper from Street showing interest.
Jim Barron.

Report"Now, if you were a rabid psychopathic anti-social Tory".
Well Martin I'm just as likely to get venomous when confronted with the more sociopathic Tory rhetoric, but maybe that's where we differ... I see them *all* (Tories & Lib/Dems) as just Con/Dems these days. All this arguing on-line between the local Lib/Dems & Tories is just rhetorical theatre as far as I'm concerned, because the policies that really matter are being passed down from the 'National coalition' level. So whether the voters go for a Fib/Dem candidate or Tory candidate, they will end up with a Con/Dem & 'locally' in Glastonbury at least, the only realistically electable 'opposition' out there is the Green Party. Feel free to argue the local demograpics with me if you think I'm wrong though Martin. I'm certainly not second-guessing the voters & obviously the Green Councillors are going to have to prove their metal, but in my humble opinion I would say they are doing so already.
