Due to the requirement for necessary road resurfacing works, Somerset Highways will be closing off the centre of Glastonbury for 5 days commencing on Monday 21st November 2011.

This means that due to the width of the roads, and for the safety of the work force, the High Street, The Market Place and Magdalene Street will be totally closed to all vehicular traffic while the works are undertaken, although pedestrian access will still be maintained.  Somerset Highways are also requesting that no vehicles are parked on these roads, although necessary deliveries may be allowed in conjunction with the works foreman on site.

These works follow recent essential works in Bere Lane, Chilkwell Street and Coursing Batch which saw the main access point (the A361) between Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet closed to traffic for a couple of weeks.

If you require any further information on these works Ian Harris, the Project Supervisor can be contacted on 0845 3459155.
