Well The Weather Outside Is Frightful.........

I've been peering out of the window at regular intervals this evening in the vague hope that it will be snowing a blizzard and there will be no chance of getting to work tomorrow. Alas, no snow yet but hasn't it been a weird few days? Snow, sun, sleet, horizontal rain, can't recall ever seeing so many rainbows in such a short space of time.....

Anyway, in case you haven't seen the weather forecast for the next few days, we are due some very heavy rain over night tonight, with the chance of local flooding; the roads around Meare are pretty grim with flooding at the moment. Be warned that there is a chance of snow tomorrow in this area but in particular there will be bad driving conditions due to snow and sleet around the M5 corridor, M4, Bristol, Bath and South Gloucestershire. If your journey takes you to these areas tomorrow, make sure you check the local weather forecast before venturing out. On Wednesday, the 376 First bus service ground to a halt on the road from Wells towards Bristol, on the Mendips near Green Ore. A lorry couldn't make it up the hill in the heavy flurry of snow and so all traffic including the buses got stuck, with many passsengers getting off and heading back into Wells on foot!

This time last year of course we had had heavy snow for a few days and temperatures were well below freezing during daytime. At least we haven't got that to contend with though I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for that snow tonight.....

It certainly is frightful - I've just returned from Bristol and while there's no sign of snow the water is out in various places and it was very foggy coming down through the Mendips.

There are still a few hardy souls from the Occupy Glastonbury demo outside St John's Church though.
