Glastonbury has loads to offer, both for those of us lucky enough to live here, and for the thousands of tourists who come here every year.
Of course, there is the famous Glastonbury Festival every year, but there’s loads of other great stuff happening here too, every day.
Everyone will have their own ideas as to the perfect day out in Glastonbury, but here’s mine. (Let me know what you think!)
I start off with a coffee at the Blue Note Cafe in the High Street. They do great food here, but the best time of day is early, when it’s quiet, and if it’s nice out you can sit in the yard.
Then I will go round the corner to Glastonbury Abbey. This famous abbey is a haven in the middle of town. It really is the stuff of legend, but as well as the stunning old abbey itself, the grounds are great too.
Helen Tinsdale, who lives in Glastonbury High Street, told me: “The abbey is the best place to be in the summer. Even when there are lots of tourists, it’s always very quiet and peaceful.”
After wandering around Glastonbury Abbey (which costs £5.50 for an adult to get in, but it’s well worth it) I like to check out the shops.
Glastonbury is famous for it’s amazing bookshops, gift shops, and shops selling genuine accessories for real witches, as well as jewellery and clothes.
My favourites include Gothic Image which has an excellent range of CDs for sale which you’d struggle to find in chain stores, as well as the bookshop Speaking Tree.
I’d probably stop for another coffee at Galatea while browsing the shops.
For lunch it has to be a choice between either Lazy Gecko or La Terre. And after that, to work it off, it has to be a trip up Glastonbury Tor.
Don’t be put off by what looks like a hell of a climb. It’s really not that bad, and the view is worth it.
On the way back I stop at Chalice Well, an ancient well near the Tor. Just like the abbey, it’s also a place to chill out.
After all that walking, a pint is in order. I’d probably go to the Riflemen’s Arms. The beer is good here, and this pub also has some great music.
Finally, a day out in Glastonbury is never complete without some hippy stuff. Yep, I’m talking about some healing, or treatment. It’s not something I would normally do, but it’s always good to try things out, eh?
Alexander Berger, a resident of nearby Street, regularly goes into Glastonbury to try new classes and treatments.
He said: “To be honest I tend to steer clear from all that alternative stuff, but I do love trying things out. I’ve done yoga, soul healing, alchemy, trance dancing, and tai chi.
“It’s all on my doorstep so it would be a waste not to try these things out.” Some good local services to try new things out include Esoteric Soul Healing, the Mystic and Earth Spirit Fayre, Glastonbury Positive Living Group, The Isle of Avalon Foundation, and Sacred Healing Touch.
Anyway, that's my perfect day out in Glastonbury. Did I miss anything?

@moshingfairy I think you must have some personal agenda I am a proffesional caterer and worked as a "mystery diner" for several large food outlets and magazines I found La Terre to be refreshingly clean and extremely well managed As a bonus porobably one of the best toilet faciltys in any local restaurant with individual hand towels (cloth) and immaculatedly clean. As for a lack of ice if true it must have been in the initial opening weelks when in the best run businnes things can go wrong "teething problems"
The staff needing a good scrub is a highly unacceptable comment Perhaps the fashionable dress code "easy" is what is what you consider unacceptable But the whole ethos of the place is a relaxing friendly atmosphere not a stiff sterile place.I sugest if you want that kind of rigourous dress code then try "THE IVY" a place I can say does excellent food, and pay the price Hopefully your dress code will allow you entrance

ReportLa Terre needs to sort itself out! No cold white wine, or ice for tequila sunrise. Staff look like they need a good scrub too!

ReportMust be the ley lines (or the Glastonbury wi-fi).
La Terre is the hippest newest joint in town. It is a late license the café which is also open as a Tapas Bar and Restaurant, with a really Mediterannean feel.
