'Resurrected Glastonbury Holy Thorn Bears Miracle Image Of Christ'

As reported in the media recently and shown in photographs on this very site last week, the Holy thorn in Glastonbury has started to bud again this spring following the unwarranted vandalism that occurred in late December when the branches were lopped off and many thought the thorn had died. 

Today however something even stranger has happened.  This morning, Avril Berner, a reader of Glastonburypeople was taking her Labradoodle for a walk on Wearyall Hill and having seen our pictures decided to take a close look at the thorn.  She was shocked to discover on one side of the ancient hawthorn what appeared to be the image of Jesus Christ’s face.

“I couldn’t believe it” said Avril, “while Pickles was doing a number two, I took a look at the thorn and was amazed to see what is clearly the face of the adult Christ staring back at me.  I am not a religious person, and certainly not a dizzy hippy, but quite frankly I was knocked aback - so much so that I nearly stepped in Pickles’ whoopsie!”

Avril managed to regain her composure enough to take a couple of snaps on her mobile phone, and while the resolution isn’t brilliant we thought we’d post them here.
