I lived in Meare for many years and at that time it was an old people's home. We went there a couple of years ago for my brother's 50th wedding anniversary. The service and food was very good. How much the locals use it i don't know. After the debarcle of The Countryman a few yards down the road some small trade may have gone it's way.

To the Manor born
This is a four star privately owned guesthouse a few miles outside of Glastonbury in the village of Meare on the Somerset levels.
Although I've not actually stayed overnight, I have attended a wedding reception and the service that was put on was wonderful. The staff were friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. They catered for a variety of needs and people of all ages without fuss.
I did get to look around a couple of bedrooms as some of the wedding guests were staying overnight, and they were above average in terms of style and comfort and the guests did enjoy their stay.By Marty_Hopkirk at 16:55 on 10/06/10
