I lived in Meare for many years and at that time it was an old people's home. We went there a couple of years ago for my brother's 50th wedding anniversary. The service and food was very good. How much the locals use it i don't know. After the debarcle of The Countryman a few yards down the road some small trade may have gone it's way.

ReportThis is a four star privately owned guesthouse a few miles outside of Glastonbury in the village of Meare on the Somerset levels.
Although I've not actually stayed overnight, I have attended a wedding reception and the service that was put on was wonderful. The staff were friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. They catered for a variety of needs and people of all ages without fuss.
I did get to look around a couple of bedrooms as some of the wedding guests were staying overnight, and they were above average in terms of style and comfort and the guests did enjoy their stay.
