Street Theatre, the awarding drama group behind the recent production of Brassed Off, will barely pause for breath before starting work on their next theatrical project. Peter Wintle will be leading a play reading of Agatha Christie's "And then there were none" at the United Reform Church Hall in Street on Monday, November 28th. This reading will start at 7:30pm. Anyone interested in finding out more is welcome to attend (You do not need to be a member to come along, but if you audition and are offered a part then you will need to join the company. Membership is just £15 for one year of three productions). The performance dates are 15th - 17th March 2012.
If you are a novice actor, keen to give it a go, or an experienced stage performer looking to return to drama, there are opportunities for all. The play has 11 roles (8 men and 3 women) covering a wide range of ages. Some are quite brief cameos whilst others will involve being on stage for most of the performance. After the play reading, there will also be a workshop on Thursday, December 1st. Auditions will be held the following week on Tuesday, December 6th and Thursday, December 8th. The workshop and auditions will also be held in the United Reform Church Hall in Street and each session will begin at 7:30pm.
"And then there were none" is adapted from what is widely regarded as the best selling mystery novel of all time, originally under a more controversial title. The plot twists and turns as all good mysteries should and will leave you guessing right to the final curtain. Set in a large house, isolated from the mainland, a group of disparate people arrive by boat, invited by a mystery host they have never met. Each guest has a secret and as these are revealed, events take a murderous turn. Will anyone survive to tell the tale?
