Doing it old school, this pub has a great atmosphere - it's really laid back and friendly with a good group of regulars waiting to strike up a conversation with you. The food is nice and served hot; it also isn't expensive which...
89 Ashcott Road
The Railway's a strange place. It is in the middle of nowhere on a minor B-road a few miles outside of Meare. It's a popular stop off for cyclists and bird watchers and despite appearing to have very few people living nearby is...
4 Chilkwell Street
Looking up this pub as I have only just found out an old friend of mine from Bolton, Mick Hogg latterly known as Mushroom Mick, died Dec 2010 of lung cancer. Not surprising considering all the fumes he inhaled! Read that he spent...
This is my favourite pub in the hole of Glastonbury and perhaps even the south west of England. As soon as you walk through the front door you can't help but be mesmerised by the heaving throng of smiling, happy punters engrossed...
19 Market Place
Although I rarely frequent the King Billy it was one of the few places open when I fancied a hair of the dog on New Year's day today, and although I'd missed out on their famously good roast dinner - which had sold out really...
43 High Street
Popped in last weekend as it was sunny and I'd not been in for ages. A couple of pints of Weston's cider sampled in the beer garden went down an absolute treat in the early evening as the sun went down. Can't recommend it...
17 Northload Street
Under new management, still great food - always recommended. Service friendly, happy to address any concerns. Great cider. Comfortable spot. If the breakfasts are still as great as they were in Martin's day then overnight...
Serves the local community well, has a friendly welcoming atmosphere and a good range of beers, decent well priced menu and in a lovely little village outside Glastonbury. Worth checking out the Sunday lunch menu
This is a lovely pub, a little out of the way, but easy to get to by car and bus and benefits from the slight distance from the hubbub. Friendly landlord and good selection of beers at good prices. Definitely worth checking out.
31 33 Benedict Street
One of the good things about the Arthur is the quiet, pretty enclosed beer garden which has plenty of tables and space to accomodate a good gathering in the sunshine. it also has a rather delightful open fronted wooden gazebo at...
Prompt service at bar and restaurant Good selection of beers and cider Fantastic food Very sloooooooow with the food 50 minutes first visit 47 minutes on second visit 6 months later and sadly they used the same excuse order got...
27 Benedict Street
The Mitre is in benedict street, is better known for goos pub grub and is quite a nice little pub with a courtyard garden. Friendly service, does seem to have a posse of 'regulars' who hang out there
This usually entices people in who are en route to Glastonbury, but it does serve its locals well and is such a pretty little place. Traditional range of lagers and beers, the menu is basic but well priced. Nice friendly landlord,...
