One of the good things about the Arthur is the quiet, pretty enclosed beer garden which has plenty of tables and space to accomodate a good gathering in the sunshine. it also has a rather delightful open fronted wooden gazebo at the back, with anough room for a table and a few chairs which is great if the weather is a bit grim but you want to be outside so you have a few ciggies. It's finding its feet again, this pub, after a dodgy time of it but the new vibe seems to be working well.

ReportBack with a vengeance "The Arthur" is now one of the more happening venues in town, with plenty of live music featuring some well respected acts like Dub Pistols, Mad Professor, Celtech, Imperial Leisure etc., as well as a friendly and throbbing vibe as well as a revamped kitchen which produces a great Sunday lunch. After several years of stagnation it's once again the place to go in town.

ReportAfter a few years when the pub seemed to be treading water, it seems to be on the up again under the control of relatively new management. There is now regular live music in the Excalibar at the back, food has returned to the menu and a lot of energy appears to be going into making a go of it. Not the easiest pub in the world to make a go of admittedly but it has plenty of potential. If you've not been in for a while I recommend you pay a visit.
Under new management and this plae has been a bit sketchy for the past decade with a series of dodgy landlords running the show. It seems to have found its feet again and the place has been cleaned up and given a new burst of energy, pulling back some of the better crowd. Good garden and live music though sometimes charging on the door a bit over priced
