Although I rarely frequent the King Billy it was one of the few places open when I fancied a hair of the dog on New Year's day today, and although I'd missed out on their famously good roast dinner - which had sold out really quickly today, it was still a pleasant place to chew the fat with a couple of old codgers while trying some of their delicious sweet potato soup.

ReportThe King Billy (as is known locally) has a loyal bunch of regulars who seem to be the mainstay of the clientel although it is a good place for pint if visiting, particularly at the weekends when there is usually a live band playing. There is a small seating area to the front which is a good place to sit and watch weird and wonderful passers by, they serve food too, although can't coment on the menu as have not dined there.

ReportThe King Billy never seems to go out of fashion and has a transient following as well as being home to a staunch regulars crowd and carnival club supporters. Well placed in town for a seat outside to watch the world go by and offers a good range of beers and cider.
