Under new management, still great food - always recommended. Service friendly, happy to address any concerns. Great cider. Comfortable spot. If the breakfasts are still as great as they were in Martin's day then overnight customers should also be happy.

As disabled people we love it! Also good food.
Guide dog - no problem! Hard of hearing - no problem! Wheelchairs and mobility scooters - at least in the court yard, (our only experience) - no problem.
Just smiley waitresses who take all our orders and money for us without us having to move.
Well done!

We had steak - delicious, lamb shank, ditto, sausages and mash also very good although would have been great to have had eg some carrots/green beans with it(minor quibble). But the waitress treated us as if we weren't really there, or as if we were vaguely in the way: unsympathetic verging on surly.
This is my local, but only because it is so good. I can thoroughly recommend it. The food is the best I've had in town; Martin (the landlord and chef) has his international awards on the wall.

ReportThe beer garden (yard) is nothing special and from the outside it looks quite plain, but as far as pub meals go this is probably the best in town by a long shot. The meals are freshly prepared (none of that microwaved from a packet or bought in from Brakes) malarkey. The menu is varied with a selection of veggie options. The selection of beer could be better, especially if like me you prefer lager), while the bed and breakfast is superb. I recommended a friend to stay there with his two young sons a few weeks ago, and they couldn't fault it, and the breakfasts hit the spot apparently.
Can get busy at times, so may be worth booking ahead - especially at weekends.

Great pub, I was recommended it for my work experience, the food is exquisite, and the staff are lovely when they want to be. But apart from that it is a good place to have a chat and a drink with you mates

ReportGreat pub, many of times my family have reccomended it for family that are staying for a visit. The food is lovely and if you want a snack it is cheap aswell. Sometimes that staff can be a bit stroppy though but otherwise it is a really nice pub where you can sit down and have a nice drink in the beer garden and a chat with your mates, deffinatly one to go to if you passing by.
